Memory Lane

I suppose I was feeling a bit nostalgic, and I wanted to find the pictures from some of Biggs very first projects. Some are so cute I thought I'd share them with all of you. This first pic is Biggs at 7 months old in his highchair with some spoons and flour it was his first "sensory" play and he had so much fun!

This is really what motivated me to look thru some old photos because his little Franken Feet reminded me of his very first Halloween project which was his little ghost feet! So sweet!
Baby Biggs 7 months
I believe it was a card we were making for someone so after the ghosts dried he got to color the inside and this was the very first time he got to use crayons! Looking back I think "gosh, he was so little" but he's always shown an interest in trying new things and I thought "why not let him try these things a little early?" and I think it's really paid off. He loves art and being creative and using his imagination. I really believe it's so important to get them started as soon as you know they are capable. It just really gets those brains all wrinkly!
It was so fun going down memory lane and I have so many early projects to share that I thought it might be fun to post an oldie every so often. I know I enjoy seeing baby Biggums every now and then. ;-)

Frankenstein Feet

Whew, what's that smell? Is it Frankenstein feet? I have seen a few of these on pinterest and elsewhere and showed Biggs and he loved it and wanted to make some of his own. We were in a store the other day and they had the movie Frankenstein plates and he wanted one so he's been talking about Frankenstein for a few days now. He's not quite sure though because he doesn't like that he looks sad. Tonight he made a point to say that he wanted his Frankenstein feet to look "happy!". How do you make a Frankenstein foot, or rather what we call "Rankenstein"? Well, start with one happy handsome guy!

Paint the ticklish feet...

Stomp down like a lil monster....

Glue some cute lil googly eyes...

Draw on some smiley faces, sit back and give yourself a hand!
You just made some lil Rankensteins!!!

Halloween Placemat

Today was a lazy day, well, sort of... I wanted to be lazy but Biggs had other plans. So we came up with a nice quiet and easy peasy project today, Halloween placemats.  I got out a small roll of clear contact paper and some Halloween stickers and glitter.

We made a pumpkin shaped one first.

Just put another piece of contact paper on top and cut to fit the shape.

Look at this cute little goober!  In the words of Biggs: TA DA!

He used his new placemat for dinner and it was perfect! We will def be making these for all occasion/seasons.  ;-)

Birthday Weekend

Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I have posted a project, mostly due to the fact that we have been super busy baking and hanging out with lots of family because we had several birthdays. Sept 11th was Papas birthday and we celebrated with them and cousin Lilah who just turned two today!! Happy Birthday lil one! Also Gramma is about to celebrate the big 70!! Woo hoo! We celebrated her this weekend with more family and more of Biggs cousins. Biggs did a couple projects with his cousin that we can share with you all.

Started with some water bead fun!
Somebody has got that concentration face on again lol!

I cut out some apple shapes and let the kids put glue and sequins to decorate them, they came out beautiful!

I then decided to make "potato ghosts" I cut a potato in half and carved a face into it and we used them as a stamp to make lil ghosties!

They could use their hands to stamp but I find that the fork is easier for them to grip.

One of Biggs cousins making some awesome ghosts :-)

Spooky

Thank you and hope to have many more projects coming up. :-)

Apple Play Dough

Yesterday we had the best time at our nieces first birthday party! It was Winnie the Pooh theme and it was super cute! Biggs had a lot of fun playing in the bounce house and partying with his cousins.  Here is a pic of my teenie tiny contribution! Veggies and Dip hundred acre wood style!

Today, to follow our apple theme we made green apple scented play dough. It was fun and smelled yummy!
Mixing it up.

Contemplating next move...

Smelling my delicious apple!

I had saved some apple stems just for this project! The leaf came from some yummy pomegranates from Grammas tree.

Biggs made his own sweet apple!

I love my goofy guys ;-)

Ingredients: I halved mine because I didn't need that much green apple dough lol.
 2 1/4 flour
1 cup salt
1 cup water
4 tbs vegetable oil
green apple kool aid packet
Mix together and you have some fun green apple scented and colored dough, enjoy!

Apples

Yes!!!! It is finally September and that only means we are closer to my favorite season which is....FALL! September is pretty busy for us we have four birthdays in two weeks, yowzer! However September is still a fun filled project month because we love apples and it is when apple season starts for me and continues until thanksgiving. A trip to the apple orchards, some apple cider, apple pie, and apple projects. Along with our halloween stuff apples are a great fall subject. We started the morning off with an apple to share and some apples to paint with. Yum and fun!

Biggs is digging out the seeds to use for his picture!

Got one! Oh and please excuse his hair, I forgot to mention this was before 7:00 am! I now have a very early riser.
I cut an apple in half and we used it to paint with to see what kind of beautiful pattern it would make. Before anyone gets all crazy about wasting food or whatever this was a long forgotten apple it was wrinkling and getting weird no one would eat it; and don't judge you all have that one forgotten fruit or onion at the bottom of your produce bowl, lol!

I think they came out so pretty!
Moving on...

I painted Biggs' arm and fingers brown to make a tree with branches, then we did a green hand for leaves and he used his thumb to make sweet little red and yellow apples. He finished it off by gluing our apple seeds to the bottom "under the ground".

He's in focus and that's what counts, right?

Our finished product. Hope you enjoyed our first apple adventure ;-)
